NO DRIVING FOR SAUDI WOMEN.

This isn't the first time that women in Saudi Arabia have tried to break the ban on driving. The first attempt occurred in the early 90's and many followed. Manal forced this topic that is considered taboo in the Kingdom to rise again. I believe that the reason behind the ban is the strict traditions enforced by the tribal system that still acclaim's respect within the Saudi community. Some might think that the banned is because religious reasons but its not. Government officials who are against it argued that the public is still not ready, and the road capacity in the Kingdom can't handle this sudden increase in users. Nowadays It is very clear and obvious that women will be given the right to drive eventually but until then it would require more attempts and more women such as Manal.

  1. I totally agree with you on this view. I believe that Saudi women should drive after few rules are met. It is weird that the government banned something which is allowed by the religion, Saudi Arabia law book is The Qur'an. Everything should be allowed in Saudi Arabia unless it's banned by the Qur'an. I liked the point you stated about the road capacity. The roads are going to be crowded if women started driving too. Saudi already have one of the highest car accidents in the world.
